Bella Hadid Just Invented a New Way to Wear a Sweater

Publish date: 2024-05-20

Another day, another edgy Bella Hadid street style look.

For her latest off-duty outfit, the supermodel was spotted wearing an innovative take on your average sweater. While out and about in New York City, Hadid wore a black ribbed turtleneck—but with only one sleeve on. The half-on-half-off look made for an interesting asymmetrical detail, which also exposed her slouchy white tank top underneath.

The rest of the ensemble was composed of black high-waisted, wide-leg silk trousers, plus a black shoulder bag with gold chain straps, skinny black shades, and a pair of white boots. She styled her hair in her signature slicked-back bun and wore a dark rosy lip.

Though Hadid loves referencing the '90s and the early aughts in her (often vintage) wardrobe, she's also not above wearing modern looks that ooze with edge and innovation.

For instance, ahead of walking Marc Jacobs's fall 2022 fashion show, the model was spotted wearing a pair of wide-leg pants that bore a shredded, ripped denim pattern printed onto them. She paired the statement piece with a white blouse with a lettuce hem, plus a navy blue varsity jacket and white boots.

In a recent interview, Hadid opened up about her style preferences and the impact she sees it have on what others wear. "I'm dead-on. I know what I like. I always have, since I was young. And I've never drifted," she said at the time. "I look outside and I see a hundred people dressed exactly like me, just because of what Instagram is."
