London: The dress

"I’ve always been in love with 1930s, bias-cut wedding dresses, so when we set the date for our legal wedding in March, I decided this was the perfect style, given that it would still be chilly. Having briefly considered buying a vintage one, I realised that I was never going to find my perfect fit, so I approached one of my favourite British designers Isabelle Fox. Together, we designed the dress. I loved the idea of it being ankle-length at the front to show off the amazing Jimmy Choo pearl-encrusted mules I’d found, and we added a puddle train at the back to make it that bit more special. The plan was that I could cut off the train afterwards and wear it again and again."

"My sister and best friend Ruby was my bridesmaid and wore a Philosophy by Lorenzo Serafini long-sleeved, silk, floral dress. He is one of my favourite designers; I love his romantic aesthetic and she looked so ethereal in it. Her dress ended up matching the bouquets perfectly - a happy accident."

"I decided not to wear a veil for our legal ceremony as it was a casual set-up, but I still felt I needed something in my hair to balance the dress. Having searched for a big-enough bow to no avail, my mum and I made one together. And when I say we made one, I mean we made about 10 attempts, looking for the perfect colour and size. The matching cream one ended up being a snap decision on the morning of the wedding."

London: The flowers

"The flowers were by one of my favourite florists, Nikki, who runs Petal & Grace in London. Her aesthetic is at once feminine, romantic and wild, with a dose of classic style which worked perfectly for our ceremony in a Victorian church. My brief was based around my love for trailing Amaranthus, which I think are the most romantic flowers, and I loved the idea of a trailing bouquet."

London: The cake

"One of my oldest and dearest friends has a wonderful catering company called The Hill Food Company. The beauty of her food is matched only by its deliciousness, so there was no question we wanted her to do the canapés. She kindly made us this spectacular cake with all my favourite seasonal flowers and four different mouth-watering flavours: passion fruit with coconut; salted caramel; banana and elderflower with gooseberry jam; and Victoria sponge with raspberry and rose jam. It was meant to serve 200 people, but our 40 guests managed to finish the whole cake."

Mallorca: The make-up

"My great friend, the amazing make-up artist Rachel Singer Clark, did my make-up. She’s so clever at enhancing all your best features while keeping it natural and even did a quick touch up in the bathroom after dinner—the dream friend."

Mallorca: The hair

"I spotted this headband about a year ago when working on a project with the milliner Jane Taylor. I knew then that I needed to wear it when I got married. It’s such an amazing piece - bold but elegant - and would offset the dress perfectly. I also wore a pair of Jessie Thomas earrings - asymmetrical diamond studs that went up my ears. My shoes were flat blue mules by Malone Soulier, which acted as my something blue and were perfect for dancing all night in the cobbled courtyard."

Mallorca: The dress

"My search for the right dress was definitely a process, but one I really enjoyed. As a stylist, I found I was thinking about it like a shoot at first: ‘What kind of bride do I want to be on my wedding day?’ I soon realised that my priority was finding a style that I felt flattered me, but didn’t cost the earth. On a visit to Emilia Wickstead’s bridal suite I spotted a black, floral, ready-to-wear dress in the window that I had loved when I saw it at the show. I fell in love with it and then found it on Matches in silver. Silver felt like a gamble at first, but when I tried it on I never wanted to take it off, so I knew it was the one. For lots of people the idea of never wearing their dress again doesn’t matter, but soon into the process I realised that, for me, such a big investment for a dress that I might only wear for one day was too hard to stomach."

Mallorca: The veil

"As my dress wasn’t white and didn’t have a train, I decided on a simple veil to make the look more ‘bridal’. After all, when else in life do you get to wear a veil? I opted to have one custom made by a lovely woman called Elaine at her shop, Tantrums and Tiaras. She makes them bespoke to the exact length that works for your dress."

Mallorca: The bridesmaids

"My sister Ruby and my oldest friend Olive were my bridesmaids at our Mallorcan wedding. Much like with my dress, I just wanted them to feel like their best possible selves on the day, so I let them pick what they wanted to wear. We discussed it being summery and fun, and again not traditionally bridal. Ruby chose a beautiful printed jumpsuit by Seren, which makes the most stunning silk pieces. Olive chose an embroidered white dress by Rixo. I made them matching red silk pouch bags and they each had a Mallorcan fan so their accessories would tie their looks together."

Mallorca: The venue

"The venue was in Bunyola on the west side of the island. On the hunt for a venue, my husband found a picture of the beautiful, almost tropical Jardines de Alfabia, set around a crumbly, 18th-century baroque house open to the public. We discovered that you could get married there and went out to visit. It was truly love at first site... It acted as the most beautiful setting, with different areas around the garden for the ceremony and reception, so the guests explored the place as the party went on."

Mallorca: The dinner

Florrie Thomas weddingMoeez Ali

"The venue was so wild and beautiful that I wanted to keep decorations to a minimum and embrace its natural beauty. Having said that, we both love fairy lights, so in the glade where we ate dinner, we decided to have lots of festoon lights strung up. The tambourines acted as a perfect place-setting addition, so the guests could go wild with them on the dance floor later. I wanted them to be bright and fun, so I painted everyone’s names on in poppy colours. We had blue goblet glasses, hand-painted menus and lots of foliage all down the tables. Sweetly, some of our guests now have their tambourines mounted on their walls at home, which made the weekend spent painting them all the more worth it."

Mallorca: The flowers

"These were done by an amazing Mallorcan florist called Anna who runs Serendipity design. She totally understood that we wanted the flowers to be an extension of the garden rather than try and compete with it. We chose white floral arrangements for the ceremony and olive branches for the tables. My bouquet again had cascading amaranthus with white roses, veronica and wax flowers."

Mallorca: The car

"My husband and I both love '80s style and wanted something that wasn’t too ‘classic’ to drive away in. A white convertible golf felt just the ticket."

Mallorca: The reception

Florrie Thomas weddingMoeez Ali

"We had an informal ceremony in front of the house with one of our best friends as the celebrant, where we sang Fleetwood Mac and heard some readings by friends. Afterwards the guests walked around the outside of the garden, taking in the epic Tramantura mountains (and the little goats roaming around!) and then drank cava and ate tapas before dinner in a different part of the garden. This was followed by dancing and gin and tonics until 3am in the courtyard, under the stars and a giant tree that was decorated with curtains of fairy lights. Maybe I’m biased, but it felt magical."
