The breach of privacy saw personal photos of Lawrence, Kirsten Dunst and Kate Upton, amongst others, being made public. The hackers reportedly used phishing emails appearing to be from Apple security accounts that asked for usernames and passwords.
While Garofano pleaded guilty in April, he asked for leniency claiming that he already faces a lifetime loss of rights because of the conviction. He was sentenced in Bridgeport, Connecticut and, in addition to the eight months in prison, must also serve three years of supervised released and perform 60 hours of community service.
Lawrence has not yet commented on the verdict.
