Kristin Juszczyk lands NFL deal

Publish date: 2024-06-07

Designer Kristin Juszcysk, who is also the wife of an American football player, has just landed an official NFL licensing deal after Taylor Swift wore one of her pieces. The custom-made puffer jacket – which featured the surname of Swift's new beau, Travis Kelce, emblazoned across it – predictably went viral when the singer was pictured wearing it earlier this month. Kelce plays for the NFL team Kansas City Chiefs.

Kristin has been married to San Francisco 49ers player Kyle Juszczyk since 2019, and regularly makes unofficial bespoke pieces for herself and her fellow American football fans, wives and friends. Following Swift's endorsement, the NFL has officially granted Juszcysk permission to use the league's branding in her work, spanning both men's and women's fashion, according to Forbes.

Juszczyk's designs are instantly recognisable as her own; she cleverly reimagines football jerseys into a completely upcycled new piece. She crafted Swift's jacket by hand, embroidering "KELCE" in large lettering, alongside his jersey number 87, plus white and yellow stripes to represent the Kansas City Chiefs. She also added extra lining to keep cold temperatures at bay. She shared a clip to her Instagram account showing her sewing the piece, which she described "an honour of a lifetime".

Juszczyka also crafted a matching jacket for fellow player Patrick Mahomes' wife Brittany.

In 2018, Juszczyk launched her own brand, Origin, which specialised in "unique pieces that couldn't be found elsewhere" according to People, which she ran until late 2021. Today she focuses solely on making custom products for NFL fans – and now her designs will be official.
