Margot Robbie Barbie-fies Her Dazzling Black Dress at the 2024 BAFTA Awards
Margot Robbie’s 2024 award-season style has been one big game of “Will her look be Barbie pink?” And if you put money on another Mattel doll–inspired look for the 77th EE British Academy Film Awards, you’re in luck.

The actor-producer made a grand entrance at Royal Festival Hall in London today in what we imagine Barbie would wear to a grand opera. The ensemble was partially Old Hollywood glamor, partially playfully pink, but 100 percent fabulous. Robbie’s custom Giorgio Armani Privé strapless gown was almost completely covered in sparkling black sequins—with the exception of a shiny, satin pink silhouette at the center that started just under her bust and went all the way down the length of the dress. The centerpiece featured a form-fitting construction along the bodice and hips that highlighted her hourglass figure, a floor-grazing column skirt that covered her shoes, and pronounced cups with a sweetheart neckline. To add some drama and more luxury, Robbie paired the frock with long black velvet gloves and black statement drop earrings with large diamonds. For beauty, Robbie styled her softly curled hair in a sophisticated updo with tendrils hanging out at the sides to frame her face, and glammed up with rosy cheeks, soft peachy-pink eye shadow, and a nude-pink lip.

The Wolf of Wall Street actor fully leaned into the glamorous, glittery black theme Saturday night at the BAFTA Nominees Party, which doubled as a rare date night with her husband, Tom Ackerley. There, she stunned in a sequin minidress by Chanel that featured a narrow, sharp V neckline and white line details along the top hem, paired with matching peep-toe heels, a black quilted, top-handle purse with gold hardware—and, channeling The Matrix, a shiny patent leather midi coat. As for Ackerley, he cut a suave figure in a black pinstripe suit jacket over a beige button-down shirt, matching pinstripe dress pants, and shiny dress shoes.
This is a big night for Robbie, who is up for Leading Actress for her role in Barbie, alongside costar Ryan Gosling, who is up for Supporting Actor; the comedy also received BAFTA nominations for Original Screenplay, Production Design, and Costume Design. In addition to the 2023 summer blockbuster film, Robbie’s movie Saltburn, for which she served as a producer, is up for Outstanding British Film and Original Score, with Barry Keoghan nominated for Leading Actor, Rosamund Pike nominated for Supporting Actress, and Jacob Elordi nominated for Supporting Actor.
