Phoebe Waller-Bridge kept her famous Fleabag jumpsuit

There are many memorable scenes from Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag, but there was one in particular that sparked a shopping frenzy.

The actress, writer and director wore that black jumpsuit in the first episode of season two during a dramatic family dinner, where she meets the hot priest for the first time.

The flattering £38 style, by British label Love, featured a keyhole cut out, high neckline and wide leg trousers - and naturally, Waller-Bridge wanted to keep it for herself.

She admitted onstage, while celebrating the release of Fleabag: The Scriptures, that she now owns it and plans to wear it again one day.

“Yes, she owns it, yes she’ll wear it again one day,” Vanity Fair wrote, in a recap of the event.

The star also touched on having to say goodbye to such an important character. “I started getting sort of panicky because I could feel the character leaving me,” she explained.

“And I remember feeling like, no, no, we have one more show! I felt her go… it was such a lovely feeling… I don’t actually know where she is now and I think that’s the right thing for both of us.”

Searches for the jumpsuit surged following the airing of the second season. Love confirmed that it sold out of the initial run in a day - but has since released the style, reports Stylist.

Costume designer Ray Holman originally purchased the jumpsuit from the Love concession in the Topshop Oxford Circus store.

Holman explained to A Cup of Jo: “I remember the moment I saw the jumpsuit.”

“We were in a fitting and I said, ‘Look, I’m going to show you this, just put it on.’ She [Waller-Bridge] put the jumpsuit on and went, ‘Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, this is episode one’. It looked amazing on her."

She added: "It was making a statement, because at that point in our story, she hadn’t seen her family for a year. So, she did make an effort. The jumpsuit, with her flat Supergas, not with her high heels.”
