Sarah Jessica Parker might be best known for wearing an elaborate white wedding gown in her nuptials to Mr. Big on Sex and the City. But in her real-life wedding to Matthew Broderick in 1997, she wore a black Morgane Le Fay dress. The choice to wear a black wedding gown was both chic and memorable, but in a new interview, Parker says it's a big regret of hers.

On Watch What Happens Live, the actress told Andy Cohen the real story behind the fashion risk. "Oh, I wish it was because I was badass," she said. "I just was too embarrassed to spend any time looking for a wedding dress. There was a store that I liked that I knew, and I just went and got whatever they had hanging."

If she were to get married in 2016, she wouldn't opt for black. "I would do it differently," she said. Back in 2009, she told the Today show that she wore it then to avoid drawing attention to herself. That may also have been because the wedding was a surprise to everyone but the couple. They invited 100 guests to New York for what they thought was a party, only to witness their wedding at the Angel Orensanz Synagogue.

Nowadays, she'd "white it up," she told the show. "I'd wear a beautiful, proper wedding dress, like I should have worn that day." And she elaborated to Martha Stewart Weddings in 2015, saying she'd want an "Oscar de la Renta feel, pockets below the waist, a very fitted bodice, a huge skirt, in taffeta and duchesse satin."

But if a dress is her only regret about her wedding, it's a pretty minor one to have, even if she is a style icon these days. She and Broderick are about to celebrate their 20th anniversary, so if she feels like it, that would be the perfect occasion to rock a white gown.
