See Princess Kate Style an Ethereal Gown with Black Opera Gloves at the BAFTAs

Princess Kate has made a striking return to the BAFTAs.

The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the 2023 EE British Academy Film Awards this afternoon, where they appeared on the red carpet for the first time in three years. This year, Kate continued her tradition of wearing white gowns to the esteemed ceremony, while adding a bit of edge through some surprising accessories.

The royal's ensemble was comprised of a one-shouldered goddess-style gown by Alexander McQueen that she previously wore to the 2019 ceremony, featuring an added trailing sash decoration over her left shoulder. She paired with black velvet opera gloves, which matched William's velvet double-breasted jacket.

Kate also carried a rectangular black clutch which matched the gloves, and finished the look with a pair of ornate dangling earrings made of rose-gold petals.

In addition to the velvet piece, William's stylish iteration of the traditional tuxedo, pairing included black suit pants, a white shirt, and a black bow tie.

For their last appearance at the esteemed awards ceremony, all the way back in 2020, the then-Cambridges followed the evening's suggested dress code promoting sustainability. Kate re-wore a white and gold Alexander McQueen look she previously donned in 2012. She accessorized the short-sleeved gown with gold Jimmy Choo pumps, an Anya Hindmarch clutch, and a Van Cleef & Arpels mother of pearl necklace and matching earrings.

Meanwhile, William, who has served as President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts since 2010, looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo and bow tie.
