SZA Releases Solange-Directed "The Weekend Music Video
At long last, SZA's music video for "The Weekend," directed by Solange, has arrived.
Solange's imprint is obvious on the visuals, as told by camera angles, cuts, and artistic filming locations. Some fans on Twitter even found likened it to her "Cranes in the Sky" video, which released last year. The wardrobe choices also carry hints of the artist's aesthetic, but mixed in with SZA's seductive personal style.
The singer wears four different looks in the video. There's this strappy leotard by Anais, which she flaunts from a balcony:

"The Weekend" became such a fan favorite from SZA's debut album, Ctrl, that it went platinum even though it wasn't even a single. It also nabbed a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance—all it needed next was a music video. This marks her latest visual off of the record, following "Love Galore," "Drew Barrymore," and "Supermodel."
News first broke in August that Solange and SZA were teaming up for a video together. "I love her," SZA said of her fellow singer. "I think the universe is just bringing us closer to each other. That's my homegirl."
The video originally included 10 different looks shot in 10 different locations, SZA said when she teased the video to USA Today. If the outfits that were cut look anything like the ones that made it in the final video, we want to see them pronto. Who knows, maybe the singer will drop some behind-the-scenes photos with those mystery ensembles. She's already killing the #OOTD game on Instagram anyway.
