The beauty industry has introduced a new and clever way of helping protect our skin from the sun in the form of a wearable UV patch that will inform you when you need to reapply sun cream.
We all know that sun protection is very important and there are now multiple ways of guaranteeing that we don't skip vital SPF application, from developing clear facial sunscreens, to the invention of a tanning drug which could help keep sun worshippers happy without over-exposing their skin to harmful UV rays.
But French skincare brand La Roche-Posay's new product is more pioneering than others - a gadget that tells you when you need to re-apply sunscreen or get out of the sun altogether.
The shaped wearable UV patch, the first of its kind, links up to your smartphone and allows you to measure and monitor your UV exposure.
The patch is completely waterproof and contains photosensitive dyes which change colour when exposed to UV rays to indicate varying levels of sun exposure.

When applying, remove from its packaging stick the patch to your skin without removing the silver foil cover. Only remove the silver foil when you're ready to start sunbathing and once applied you don't need to worry about reapplying it for another five days, reports Look.
Upon using the free app, you'll be asked to create a user profile choosing your skin tone and type, hair and eye colour and skin type and your favourite sun cream preference.
Once the app has created your profile, scan the patch to receive customised feedback for your skin, as well as reminders when it's time to reapply your sun cream - perfect for those who aren't sure how long they should wait before reapplying.
Unfortunately the UV patch isn't available to buy yet but you can join the waiting list here.
