Why a statement belt is the best way to revamp your current wardrobe
As we all become more aware of our own impact on the environment, you may be making a conscious effort to shop more sustainably - or simply cut back on how much you are buying. However, if you still want to stay on top of the current trends and keep your look feeling fresh, one of the best ways to do this is by simply adding a standout accessory. Great news then that the statement '90s belt looks to be making a comeback, giving you an excellent way to re-style the pieces that are already hanging in your wardrobe.
Emily Ratajowski, Bella Hadid, Jamie Chung, influencer Anna Vitiello and Man Repeller's Leandra Medine have all been championing the belt trend – and one brand in particular appears to have captured everyone's attention. Black & Brown, which has recently launched on Net-a-Porter and Selfridges, has been spotted on celebrities all summer long.
Designer Simi Singh, who originally founded Black & Brown with her mother Nina, told us why she thinks there has been such an interest in her product.
"With people looking to capitalise on their existing wardrobes and refraining from shopping as much, belts are an easy way to revamp any outfit all year round. They can make a statement in any season, and with the '90s era having a comeback, people are looking to create more of an impact with their accessories."

As well as chunky styles, the brand also offers skinnier and more lightweight belts, which echo the chain belts that were popular a few decades ago – and which Celine Dion revisited during Couture Fashion Week (via the Chanel catwalk) in July.
"I've noticed that chain belts, which were popularised in the '90s on the catwalks of Chanel, Moschino and Dior, are now coming back into style," Singh says, whose brand sells leather, chain and resin styles, which would instantly transform any ensemble.
Want to tap into the celebrity-approved trend? Here are three very different ways to make it work for you, season after season.
Team with a classic white shirt
Take style cues from Ratajkowski and pair with a crisp white oversized shirt, worn as a dress. Add a casual feel to your outfit by wearing with some on-trend chunky trainers and sleek cat-eye sunglasses.

The buckle is back
Bella Hadid made a case for the buckle belt – a firm '90s favourite, worn at the waist. Team with a mini-dress just as Hadid did or for a bolder look, use it to add definition to your trench coat or blazer this autumn season.

Stylish yet subtle
If you want to tap into the trend, but with something a little more subtle, then try sticking to one-tone and matching your outfit to your belt, as demonstrated stylishly by model Elsa Hosk.
