Why Harry Styles Skipped the 2023 Met Gala

Harry Styles did not make his long-awaited return to the Met Gala tonight.

The Grammy-winning musician was not among the celebs who walked the carpet at fashion's biggest night of the year. While the pop star has not commented on his absence from the event, he is still traveling the world for the latest leg of his world tour, which continues with shows in Denmark next Saturday.

The "As It Was" singer made his first and last Met Gala appearance in 2019, when he cohosted the glitzy event alongside Lady Gaga. Styles embraced the night's Camp theme in an all-black, bespoke Gucci look, comprised of his signature high-rise trousers and a sheer Victorian-era blouse with a pussy bow.

Earlier this year, Styles made a bold fashion statement at the 2023 Grammys, where he took home several awards including Best Pop Solo Performance and Album of the Year. The musician freed the nipple in a custom Egonlab x Swarovski jumpsuit, emblazoned with a glittering rainbow diamond pattern and featuring a dramatically low scoop neckline that bared his entire chest. He finished his look with white boots, layered gold necklaces including a chain with a cross pendant, and an array of large gold rings.

The "Watermelon Sugar" singer has recently made headlines for his rumored romance with Emily Ratajkowski. Last month, footage of the supermodel and the pop star kissing outside in Tokyo was released by The Daily Mail. An insider told Entertainment Tonight following the viral clip that the pair are "having fun together."

"Harry and Emily have known each other for a while and have always had a strong attraction to one another," the source told the outlet. "Harry thinks Emily is cool and beautiful and has always liked her. For now, they're having fun together."
